描述:MMP-8 Inhibitor I is a potent and cell-permeable inhibitor of MMP-8 (IC₅₀ = 4 nM). The family of MMPs (matrix metalloproteinases) are commonly known to be involved in the degradation of various extracellular matrix proteins. Overexpression of MMPs are linked to diseases such as arthritis, cancer, osteoporosis and arteriosclerosis. MMP-8, also known as neutrophil collagenase, exhibits collagen cleaving activity primarily found in connective tissue.
